MICROFOLLY

The Sun is a star. In fact, it is the only star near enough to be seen well. The Sun appears as a sphere of glowing gases, while all other stars are merely points of light. If the Sun were located as far away as most bright stars, we'd be dead.

The Sun contains 99.85% of all the matter in our Solar System. The planets contain only 0.135% of the mass of our solar system. Jupiter contains more than twice the matter of all the other planets combined. Satellites of the planets, comets, asteroids, meteoroids, and the interplanetary medium constitute the remaining 0.015%.

  • Sun: 99.85%
  • Planets: 0.135%
  • Comets: 0.01% ?
  • Satellites: 0.00005%
  • Minor Planets: 0.0000002% ?
  • Meteoroids: 0.0000001% ?
  • Interplanetary Medium: 0.0000001% ?

Ever since Einstein proposed his special theory of relativity in 1905, physicists have accepted as fundamental principle that the speed of light is 300 million metres per second.

Under the framework of The Great Cosmic Joke, the speed of light (humor) is under recalculation by a crack team of mimes (in space no one can hear you scream) as the this space/comedy argument won out over standard vaudeville interpretations (planks, pie and trajectory formulae).
