P.T. DEVILS These are the newly-named (as of January 1997) P.T. Devils, formerly the Plaid Tongued Devils. They were sick of being categorized as just another Celtic band because of their name, when they only do a small handful of Celtic songs. They are moving toward a more klesmer-based sound, with Gothic influences, and wanted to reflect their broader-based multi-cultural trans-oceanic wide-ranging self-researched sincerely-stolen indo-euro-canadian folk influences. I talked them out of renaming themselves the Black Tongued Devils, and they wisely elected to stay away from Silver, Gold or any of the other primary colours. P.T. Devils does the job nicely. No specific folk-rock genre is implied by their new name, and they are happy(er) with it. Although Jonathon dreads having to weed all the periods. But Boy! Howdy! do they look goofy in eyeliner! Here's some out-takes from their recent photo-shoot with Clint Adam Smith. These are rejects for their choice of publicity and album photos for their upcoming new CD, Klezskavania. I picked them from the contact sheets for their sillyness. Ty scanned them, but his scanner's not as good as mine, so they are kind of washed out and funny looking. You can see their website at thedevils.com. "Ahoy the future, we have our brooms!" |
