Performance, Presentation, Writing and...Picture

You have reached the Poetry Page for FredWorld. Doesn't every site have a poetry page? Okay, okay maybe you won't find one on Netscape 's or Microsoft's, but you do find one here. And this is it.

Actually, there will be more than just Poetry referenced here, it's a catchall phrase I am using to sort all the artistic ends of my life together. There's also links to general writing, performance, film, video and any other projects I get caught up in.

Storytelling

I'm taking a storytelling course with Doug Curtis of Ghost River. The class is three hours a week for six weeks, and is focussed on bringing a story from a raw form to performance quality. My homework this week (March 6th, 2000) was to watch "Swimming to Cambodia." If you haven't seen the movie, it's worth renting. For the modern amongst you, it is only available on VHS, not DVD, so did out that retro player and hook it up.

I looks like there will be a performance for "family and friends" in the third week of April. Stay tuned for details.

Producer credit

After the succes of the spoof ad submission for the 1999 Eddies competition, we are re-entering for 2000.This time I am Producer, and also share screenwriting credits with Kirk Miles, the Cinematographer/Editor Neil Evenson and Director Ken Cameron. So far our entire budget is under $200 out-of-pocket, mostly for "props" (Big Rock beer). For more information go to the Drunken Poets page. The improvement over last year's submission is that we have Beautiful Women in this one. Stay tuned for more...

If you don't have QuickTime you can download it free here.

Performances

My most recent performance was March 4th, 2000, at Crump Manor as part of Single Onion's inaugural event. Also on the bill were Sheri-D Wilson, T.Crane, Kirk Miles, and, from Vancouver, Tippy A Gogo. Turnout was good. Clicking here will take you to my Performances page.

Drunken Poets Society

I also meet every Monday night at the Ship and Anchor with my homeys in the Drunken Poets Society . We have been formally meeting since about the Summer of 1994. Before that we met informally for a couple of years, by accident more than anything. We tried a couple of other venues, but the loud, brash, smokey, dark ambiance of the Ship kept drawing us back. As a nonsmoker I find it kind of gets to me sometimes, but I put up with it for the summer months, when we get to sit on the patio.

Crossing Boundaries

Crossing Boundaries is a collaborative project between myself and Clint Adam Smyth.

That button to the left, the one with the face in it, will take you to the Crossing Boundaries page of Clint Adam Smyth.

Photography

I've taken scads of photographs over the ages, so I had far too many to choose from. I chose a couple of shots from the early days. These photographs were double-exposed in the camera, timer exposed after dark. The models are my friends Michael Raycevick and Mandy Praud, with a cameo by me.

HTML

Well, in this modern world a writer is so much more than just that. As a poet I've had to learn to write in the language of the modern web. This is where you can find out some of my thoughts on the matter...
